The Cows are 100% grass-fed. They graze from April to November and move to a new piece of grass every day.
During the winter they happily consume hay in the barn while the wind whistles and the snow falls outside. All of the cows and young stock have access to free choice salt and other minerals. We have mainly Jersey cows as we believe they produce high quality raw milk. In addition the utmost attention is given to ensure good health, comfortable housing, and clean milk handling.
The Veal calves are raised on
real milk from the cows. They are also given free-choice salt, minerals, hay, and pasture.
The Beefers are started with the same care and attention as the veal calves. Once they no longer need milk they are rotationally grazed and fed hay in the winter months.
The Pigs are our rototillers and land clearers. They are rotated through newly cleared land and fields. Pigs love to be outside rooting, and allowing them to root is good for their health and meat quality. They are fed our own organic ear corn, organic grains, milk, vegetables, and whatever roots and grubs they find in their path.
The Eggs are produced by a variety of poultry. We have mini eggs produced by our
bantam chickens, traditional brown eggs from a variety of chickens, and green eggs from the Araucana hens. All of the poultry are free-range and fed organic grains.
The Broilers eat organic grains, forage, insects, and worms. We rotate them through our pastures, so they can always find fresh food, benefitting both their health and their flavor. We process them ourselves to ensure that the finished product is of the highest quality.
The Vegetables we grow are managed organically. The wide range of vegetables allows us to have a diverse crop rotation. A good crop rotation reduces the chance of weed, pest, and disease damage. We use our own compost and cover crops to fertilize the vegetables.
